Family Reunion Support

At Beyond Borders, we work with the British Red Cross to help families separated through war and persecution reunite in safety.

Many refugees living in the Southwest of England have fled conflict and persecution alone, becoming separated from their wives, husbands, children, and siblings. Once they receive refugee status, they can apply for their family members to join them, but the process is often complex and costly.

While the British Red Cross Family Reunion Support Project provides pro bono legal assistance, they cannot cover the additional costs that frequently arise during family reunion applications. These costs include expenses such as:

DNA testing (to prove family relationships when vital documents have been lost during war or displacement).

Translation of official documents (such as marriage or birth certificates, which are required for visa applications).

TB testing (which is mandatory if family members are coming from a country where TB is common).

These expenses can create significant barriers and prolong the painful separation of close family members. For many refugees, these costs are simply unaffordable.

Beyond Borders steps in to help. We provide funding to cover these essential expenses wherever possible, ensuring that families can reunite in safety and rebuild their lives together more quickly. By removing financial obstacles, we give hope and practical support to those who need it most.
